English/Canadian French Speaking Technical Support Specialist

Overview

AINS has a new requirement for a talented bi-lingual IT Support Specialist to join our team. AINS is the leading provider of Freedom of Information and Access to Information case management software and workflow-driven case management solutions. We are seeking a recent college graduate with a technical degree to provide help desk support, product implementation and training support and document translation support to translate user manuals, software screens and training material from English to Canadian French. You should be a high-energy, motivated individual, who combines an understanding of software development, good technical and problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team. 

After 3 -- 6 months of product training and orientation in Gaithersburg, MD, the successful candidate will be assigned to work in our Ottawa office.

Responsibilities:
  • Work in a team environment to support government agencies and end-users 
  • Provide Tier-1 service support for AINS COTS products 
  • Answer phone and email requests for help 
  • Use Help Desk application (Salesforce) to open, track and close trouble tickets
Desired Background:
  • Knowledge of relational databases 
  • dotNET Framework knowledge preferred 
  • Experience with Salesforce Service Desk software

Configuration Management Engineer

Overview

AINS is looking for a talented software configuration management engineer to join our software development team co-located in Gaithersburg, MD and off-shore.  AINS is the leading provider of Freedom of Information case management software and workflow-driven case management solutions. We are seeking a high-energy, motivated individual, who combines an understanding and application of software configuration management disciplines, software development, good technical and problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience supporting configuration management and software quality assurance in multiple development and test projects at the same time.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives (CMMI)
  • Participate with the project team in defining and implementing activities related to the configuration management of software development.  This may include scheduling, executing, and documenting software build processes.  Includes compiling software with standard software development tools, packaging builds for release, ensuring appropriate project documentation is available for each new build or release, and smoke testing builds for accuracy and completeness of the build.  Accurately applies code fixes to all environments as required.
  • Prior experience as an CM Engineer in a commercial software development environment
  • Knowledge of management and deployment of IIS web servers and web  applications
  • Knowledge of management and deployment of SharePoint and SQL server  
  • Experience in developing automated builds in  MS Team Foundation Server environment
  • Practical knowledge of TFS security model 
  • Working knowledge of TFS Work Item Tracking (WIT) and customizing work item templates
  • Solid scripting experience on Windows platform
  • Develops scripts, applets and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms; this includes client and server install scripts, and build and release automation scripts.
  • Identifies issues in assigned projects during the lifecycle of the project.  Plans and executes the resolution of those issues.
  • Provides technical knowledge and leadership to other team members in developing standards for SCM tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Install, configure and administer MS Team Foundation Server, MS Project Server and MS SharePoint. Implement custom solutions for MS Team Foundation Server as necessary
  • Must have a service-oriented attitude with excellent problem solving and analytical skills.  Ability to work independently, self-motivated, and highly focused
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment.  Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple priorities.

Software Test Manager

Overview

AINS is looking for a talented software test manager to join our software development team in Gaithersburg, MD.  AINS is the leading provider of Freedom of Information case management software and workflow-driven case management solutions. We are seeking a high-energy, motivated individual, who combines an understanding and application of software testing disciplines, software development, good technical and problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage software testing and verification process for at least 2 major COTS products.  FOIAXpress, the leading eFOIA software and eCase – a workflow-driven case management web based software application
  • Develop manual and automated test plan and scripts 
  • Coordinate with offshore test team to execute the test process to achieve quality product testing.
  • Learn functional and technical aspect of COTS products and prepare test environments for testing.
  • Conduct hands on testing as required
  • Work closely with functional requirements team to  understand test requirements
  • Coordinate with development team via CCB process

Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services) and ASP.Net
  • SQL Server 2005/2008
  • Oracle
  • SharePoint 2007/2010 
  • MS Team Foundation Server (preferred)

Experience:

  • 5+ years managing testing and verification process for major web applications (COTS products preferred but not required) with initial hands on testing experience
  • Experience in managing software testing and verification at a CMMI Level 3 Maturity Rating
  • Extensive experience in planning, developing and executing test plans/scripts for web based application
  • Experience with automated test tools
  • Experience in managing test and verification team with multiple ongoing tests
  • Understanding of build and release process of web application development and test cycle
  • Hands-on experience in creating test plans and test cases
  • Experience in managing distributed test team• Experience in maintaining requirement traceability matrices
  • Proficiency in managing application lifecycle in Visual Studio and MS Team Foundation Server 
  • Experience using Microsoft Test Manager,  creating and executing Visual Studio unit tests and load tests
  • Test automation skills (using commercial frameworks and test applications)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft technology stack for web application development• Working knowledge of SQL
  • Experience in SharePoint Info Path (optional)

FOIA Specialist/Analyst

Overview

Process assigned casework and present their product to the Government client for review and approval. Provide FOIA/PA review of client's records and other agency records that pertain to client. Prepare all documentation, including correspondence and final disposition documents for delivery. Supports the full FOIA lifecycle including, appeals, litigation efforts, DoJ annual report tracking and preparation, declarations, affidavits, answers to complaints and supplemental releases.  A successful candidate will work closely with legal personnel in the review and processing of FOIA/PA cases. Key knowledge of redaction citing appropriate exemptions a necessity. An ideal candidate will possess expert critical thinking skills, identify and analyze wording/situations to distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions/recommendations for client approval.

All AINS FOIA Analysts will be fully trained and certified on the use and administration of FOIAXpress, the de facto standard in FOIA processing.

Requirements

  • Experience with FOIAXpress highly desired
  • Bachelors Degree or 4-6 years of specialized FOIA experience
  • Knowledge of FOIA law with in-depth knowledge of the applications for FOIA/PA exemptions in particular 1,2,4,5,6 and 7c-e 
  • Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act 1966 (5 U.S.C. 552), Privacy Act (5 U.S.C. 552a), EO 12958, as amended, EO 13292, Openness in the Government, 6 CFR, Part VIII, Chapter 1 and Part 5, Freedom of Information Act Exemptions, 6 CFR Part 7, FOIA: 1974 Amendments' Major Features, 1986 Freedom of Information Reform Act, 1996 Electronic Freedom of Information Act
  • Experience performing FOIA analysis 
  • Reviewing agency records in response to FOIA or PA requests
  • Applying the FOIA/PA statutes to requests for agency records 
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrable experience of working independently and collaboratively while completing scheduled case load on a timely basis
  • Experience with Microsoft Word

Product Engineer/Technical Support Engineer

Overview

AINS Product Engineers configure, deploy, test and support solutions at customer sites using AINS solutions and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products. They support customers via technical support, including troubleshooting, documentation and training, coordinate support with the AINS Call Center, as well as develop solution designs and estimates.  A successful candidate will proactively coordinate technical solutions with the AINS product development teams.

Requirements

  • BS degree (Computer Science preferred)
  • Active Secret security clearance (preferred) or eligibility (incl. US Citizenship)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience in project/system engineering, system implementation and integration
  • Prior COTS and/or custom software applications support experience
  • Experience in interfacing with central services (database, infrastructure, security, and IT help desks)
  • Experience in system administration (e.g., SQL Server 2000, Oracle, Windows 2003 Server, and IIS)
  • Technical knowledge of C++, VB, Java, JSP, ASP, Windows, UnixDocument and workflow management experience a major plus
